There is a minimum order of two portions on all starters unless otherwise stated. You may wish to order some bread to accompany your starter, this can be found in a bit on the side.

  Salad of griddled potatoes and chorizo topped with a poached egg C, D, N
If you are a fan of poached eggs then this salad is a winner. Eggs come pre-poached; all you have to do is briefly plunge them in boiling water. The salad is drizzled with reduced balasamic vinegar to add colour as well as flavour.

  Smoked haddock, lemon and dill terrine with horesradish creme fraiche C,N
This comes int he form of a block which can be cut into 8 - 10 slices. Made with un-dyed, locally smoked haddock with just a hint of dill.

  Gingered chicken cakes with chilli and coriander sauce D, C, N
Oriental, fragrant chicken cakes served with a mayonnaise-based coriander sauce. These are also on offer as a canape.

Rosti with smoked salmon, and lemon creme fraiche C, N

This grated potato rosti is popped in the oven for five minutes to warm through then topped with smoked salmon and a zesty, lemon creme fraiche.

Rich, creamy and lovely. This can be served in your own ramekins or if you're feeling adventurous let me show you how to make a quenelle.
This comes in a 750ml tub which serves six.

  Smoked haddock and salmon fish cake with lemon and chive sauce N
This tasty potato-based fishcake combines salmon with a hint of smoked haddock and is served on a bed of green salad served with a blob of creme fraiche flavoured with lemon rind and chives.

Butternut and basil soup with crispy pancetta and / or feta C, V, N
A deliciously creamy soup without cream! This can be made vegetarian or dairy free by removing the pancetta or feta. I always use sheeps' milk feta which some dairy intolerants can handle and has a much sharper flavour than the cow's milk one.

This light dip combines the complex flavours of smoked aubergine, lemon and coriander with a little hint of chilli. It is served with green salad and crispy pitta bread.

This selection af tasty Middle Eastern dips is served with Moroccan flat bread and combines houmous (chick pea pate) with chopped green olives and herbs, muhamara (a roast red pepper and walnut dip) and labneh a (creamy dip made from strained yoghurt flavoured with garlic). The minimum order on this starter is four.

Try to choose a starter that will complement the rest of the meal. If you want a heavy / meaty main course then choose a light starter. Click on sample menus to give you some ideas.

N = Does not contain nuts but has been prepared in area where nuts are used. Those with a serious nut allergy must seek advice
